Organization Name: Young Israel of Oak Park
Organization Overview: Young Israel of Oak Park is located in the center of the Oak Park/Southfield Orthodox community. We are the largest Orthodox synagogue in Michigan and are growing every year. In the past five years alone, we have added 49 new member families/singles.
Young Israel of Oak Park offers programming for all ages. We have a private room for mothers to provide for their infants and toddlers. For preschoolers, we have a professionally staffed playroom that is larger than in any other Orthodox shul around. The teens have their own minyan on Shabbat morning. For ages in between, there are organized Shabbat groups. During the week, we have dynamic programming and educational opportunities for the various segments of our diverse congregation led by Rabbi Cohen and members of our community, including a daily Daf Yomi shiur and B’nei Akiva programming for both youth and adults.
We have daily minyanim for Mincha, Maariv and two for Shacharit (early and regular), plus an exciting roster of weekly classes on topics ranging from Torah to prayer to Hebrew language, held at Young Israel and in the community. On Shabbat, we always enjoy a delicious Kiddush following our services.
Surrounding YIOP are a wealth of Jewish and cultural institutions. Members of YIOP span the generations and warmly encompass the full spectrum of Modern Orthodoxy. Because of YIOP's unique location, families are able to choose to live in one of three wonderful communities, Oak Park, Southfield or Huntington Woods, and still be within walking distance to the shul.
Check out 'Our Community' for just some of those conveniences found within our 'Daled Amot' (surrounding neighborhood).
