Organization Name:  Polish American Legal Society
Organization Overview:  Founded in 1907, the Polish American Legal Society (formerly Advocates) is the oldest special purpose bar association in the metropolitan Detroit area. PALS is a group of over 200 attorneys, judges, and law students who meet monthly to exchange ideas on law-related issues to better serve the community at large. Each meeting features a noted expert of some specific area of law as guest speaker to enlighten audiences in a relaxed social atmosphere and engage in Q and A. Proud preservation of the unique Polish heritage, contributions made to Detroit and American culture is also noted. The highlight event of the year is the annual Christmas Gala, held in early December featuring an unmatched dinner of Polish cuisine and dancing to a locally prominent live band. PALS is also actively involved in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters in the Detroit community.
