Organization Overview:  The Yemeni American Committee (YAC) Is a nonprofit organization a 501(c)(3) that provides Social, Economic, Cultural and Educational services dedicated to the Community within the city of Dearborn and its surrounding areas. The YAC understands that time is a crucial factor in many of our lives. Furthermore, our community is currently in need of an organized and well prepared organization to represent the needs of the community members. The YAC is seeking members of the community to join in with our efforts in accomplishing a cohesive community. Our invitation to the community is a welcoming one to address the issues, needs, or ideas of any local residents. Unfortunately, millions of Americans are experiencing challenging times in the economy. Simultaneously, many local organizations, domestic and nationwide, fall short in fairly representing members of their communities. Although many local organizations have good intentions; without the proper planning and preparation it is more likely that the organization will not accomplish its’ intended set objectives. Prior to the assembly of the YAC, the founders of the YAC discussed the many issues, as well as opportunities, which encompasses our community. During those discussions, the founders of the YAC associated each issue under the following three categories; academics, economics, and culture. The three categories are inter-dependent and the many challenges on acquiring the associated qualities with each category depends on whether we clearly understand the value accompanying an educated community (i.e. Academics) who is familiar with how the economy functions (i.e. Economics) and are also familiar with the Arab culture and history (i.e. Culture).
