In addition to providing in-house entrepreneur training classes, we increase immigrants’ access to existing services and offer a range of unique supports and services that add value and maximize the impact on immigrant entrepreneurs and business owners. We match resources to the unique circumstances of each individual, meeting the needs of our clients wherever they are in the business development process. Browse our Start a Business and Grow a Business sections to discover how we can best meet your needs. This program was made possible by the generous and visionary support of the New Economy Initiative for Southeast Michigan.

Organization Name:  Hebrew Free Loan Fund
Organization Overview:  Hebrew Free Loan story for us all Can there be a more frightening experience than waking up one day to find your comfortable life falling apart? I asked myself that question about the well-dressed man who walked into the Hebrew Free Loan office recently in search of help. Suddenly unemployed and in the job market, he had just found work at a much lower salary, and was unable to meet the mortgage payments on his suburban Detroit home. Facing bankruptcy, the life that he and his family had known seemed over. “I don’t belong here,” he said. “But I have nowhere else to turn.” Here is where HFL comes in. Our goal is to provide all the individuals who walk in our door with dignity and respect. No judgment, just help. That’s Gemilut Chasidim, or acts of loving kindness. It’s about helping people help themselves. Whether we’re offering people a way out of their financial distress, or helping someone to realize a lifelong dream, our recipients are given the opportunity to achieve self-sufficiency and comfortably repay their interest-free loans. And the best part about it is that our 98.5 percent payback rate from loan borrowers allows HFL to redistribute funds to others in need.
