The beautiful studio space at 44 East Cross Street with its 12 ft. ceilings and vintage pressed tin crown moldings provides a perfect backdrop to a vision long held by RBTS founder, Kathy Scharp. "Art is so important - crucial even, not only for our cultural development, but for our shared experience of transcendence toward things far greater than ourselves. It is a universal language that creates meaningful bonds and keeps us connected with each other, and to what really matters in life." Kathy Scharp has had the great fortune and privilege to serve for many years as an Artistic Director and Ballet Mistress with Ann Arbor Ballet Theatre under the direction of Carol A. Radovic. Ms Scharp and her mother Ms Radovic founded AABT together when Ms Scharp was a young dancer attending classes at CAS Ballet Theatre School. She served on AABT's Board of Directors until recently when it became necessary to focus on the needs of her growing school and its artistic development.

Organization Overview:  Saints Peter & Paul Romanian Orthodox Church is a parish under the jurisdiction of The Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, headquartered in Detroit/Jackson, Michigan, having as its ruling Archbishop NATHANIEL (Popp). The current parish membership lists almost 400 dues-paying adults, but the parish ministers to a larger Romanian Orthodox community including children and non-committed communicants, visitors, etc. The parish is made-up of both American and Romanian born Orthodox Christians, which deems it necessary that the life of the parish is a bi-lingual one. However, special care is given to the realization that our practices and culture must, in some ways, adapt themselves to the American environment in order for us to have a greater impact on our community and future generations. Organization Name:  Academia de San Diego
Organization Overview:  San Juan Diego Academy is a K-8 Catholic School designed to serve the educational needs of Latino immigrant families and is the only Catholic School in the Diocese of Grand Rapids serving primarily Latino children. The School is located on the campus of Holy Name of Jesus Church, but serves families from various neighborhoods throughout the greater Grand Rapids community. San Juan Diego Academy operates through the support and financial investment of six Catholic Parishes: the Cathedral of St. Andrew, Holy Name of Jesus, St. Joseph the Worker, St. Francis Xavier/Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Sorrow and St. Mary. For more information, please visit the School’s website at www.sanjuandiegoacademy.com With the support of the Bishop, San Juan Diego Academy opened its doors in August 2011, through the collaboration, financial investment and shared vision of six urban Catholic parishes: the Cathedral of St. Andrew, Holy Name of Jesus, St. Joseph the Worker, St. Francis Xavier/Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Sorrow and St. Mary. All six of the partnering parishes have a strong Latino presence. Recognizing that a single parish school was no longer feasbile in an urban community, the establishment of San Juan Diego Academy allowed us to chart a new course for Catholic education in our community. By working together, we have been able to establish a sustainable model for Catholic education in the 21st century and ensure that a high quality Catholic education remains a viable option for families living in our city’s most economically challenged neighborhoods. For over 150 years, Catholic schools in the Diocese of Grand Rapids have educated the children of immigrants, struggling to start a new life in the U.S. These schools helped them succeed. At San Juan Diego Academy, we strive to carry on this tradition and provide a high quality, faith-centered education designed to meet the needs of Latino immigrant children in our community.

Organization Overview:  About Us South Eastern Michigan Indians, Inc. "SEMII" Our History... In the early 1970's it was recognized that the cultural, economic and social needs of the Native American Indian Community required a central location in South Eastern Michigan. In April of 1993, SEMII opened the doors of its new facility in Center Line, Michigan, where we continue to provide a broad base of services. Our Mission Statement... "...shall promote and develop Native American educational, economic, social and cultural opportunities by providing a location and source for information dissemination of maters of interest to Native Americans; by providing and sponsoring Native American exhibits, conferences, forums, cultural expositions and cultural education for the general public; and doing all such further work as shall be beneficial to the Indian community."
