Substance Abuse & Prevention

Organization Overview:  Owned by People's Community Services (PCS), the H. Irving Mayson Hamtramck Center is a large facility with many resources for the community. Located on the south end of Hamtramck, a diverse community of long-time residents and recent immigrants, the center also has several classrooms used for arts and crafts, adult education and meetings. A large common room with comfortable seating houses pool tables, foosball and ice hockey tables. This room can also be set up for large meetings or used as a dining area to the adjacent full kitchen and pantry area. Community members also enjoy our full indoor gym and basketball court. More than 250 youth use the center each year and enjoy great programs such as the Youth Stay In School Initiative and many dynamic summer programs. ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services) has an office onsite. This center also provides basic needs services for community members most in need including food assistance, clothing, employment, shelter, medical, and transportation. PCS has amazing success in being a resource for all ethnic groups in this area and encouraging participation from individual groups as well as dialogue between groups.
