Organization Name:  Southeast Michigan Indians (SEMI)
Organization Overview:  About Us South Eastern Michigan Indians, Inc. "SEMII" Our History... In the early 1970's it was recognized that the cultural, economic and social needs of the Native American Indian Community required a central location in South Eastern Michigan. Many community members met and developed the By-laws to form South Eastern Michigan Indians, Inc. On May 30, 1975 South Eastern Michigan Indians, Inc. became a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization to deliver services to Native Americans in Macomb, Oakland, and St. Clair counties. In April of 1993, SEMII opened the doors of its new facility in Center Line, Michigan, where we continue to provide a broad base of services. Our Mission Statement... "...shall promote and develop Native American educational, economic, social and cultural opportunities by providing a location and source for information dissemination of maters of interest to Native Americans; by providing and sponsoring Native American exhibits, conferences, forums, cultural expositions and cultural education for the general public; and doing all such further work as shall be beneficial to the Indian community." Today, our Mission Statement remains the same as in 1975 and we have broadened the services we provide and developed other programs of outreach to not only the Native American community, but the broader community as well. Our original statement of purpose and activities continue to be carried.

Organization Overview:  The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America is an archdiocese of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East. It traces its roots to first century Antioch (modern-day Antakya, Turkey), the city in which the disciples of Jesus Christ were first called Christians (Acts 11:26). The Patriarchate is led by His Beatitude John X from Damascus, Syria. In addition to its continuing presence in Syria and Lebanon, the Antiochian Patriarchate has archdioceses in Europe; Asia; North, Central and South America; and Australia and New Zealand. The Church of Antioch was established by the Apostles Paul and Barnabas in 42 A.D., with St. Peter serving for the next eight years as its first prelate. The Church of Antioch is one of the five ancient Patriarchates of the Christian Church, along with Alexandria, Constantinople, Jerusalem, and Rome. Antiochians are in full communion with other Orthodox Christian jurisdictions, such as the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the Orthodox Church in America, as well as many other Orthodox jurisdictions around the world. Welcome to the Diocese of Toledo and the Midwest, part of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. The Diocese of Toledo is led by His Grace Bishop Anthony and includes more than 45 churches and missions in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Organization Overview:  We know Joseph loved Jesus. His one concern was for the safety of this child entrusted to him. Not only did he leave his home to protect Jesus, but upon his return settled in the obscure town of Nazareth out of fear for his life. When Jesus stayed in the Temple we are told Joseph (along with Mary) searched with great anxiety for three days for him (Luke 2:48) (Luke 2:48)

We are minutes from the I-96 freeway and blocks from the major thoroughfare known as 28th Street. WHEN IS OUR SUNDAY SERVICE? Our principal service, the Divine Liturgy, is at 10:00 AM on Sunday. All visitors are invited and welcome! WHO ARE WE? St. Nicholas church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a parish of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. Regionally, we are part of the Diocese of Toledo and the Midwest. We are one of approximately 250 churces and missions in the USA and Canada. Our archdiocese is a part of the ancient Church of Antioch, mentioned in the New Testament. We are in full communion with the other historic Orthodox churches of Jerusalem, Alexandria, and Constantinople, as well as the other Eastern Orthodox churches throughout the world. WHAT DO ORTHODOX CHRISTIANS BELIEVE? The principal tenets of the Orthodox faith are contained in the Nicene/Constantinopolitan Creed (commonly called the Nicene Creed). Orthodox Christians believe in the Blessed Trinity, the Divinity of Christ, His virgin birth and His glorious resurrection. The Orthodox church is in direct continuity with the Church founded by Jesus Christ. It does not trace its origins to any other reformer or founder. The Orthodox Church is a very traditional church in matters of faith and worship. HOW DOES A PERSON BECOME A MEMBER OF THE ORTHODOX CHURCH? Ordinarily, a person becomes a member of the Orthodox Church by being born again of water and the Holy Spirit in the Sacraments of Baptism and Chrismation (Confirmation). Adults who have been baptized in non-Orthodox churches become members by a profession of faith and the Sacrament of Chrismation. This occurs after a period of instruction in the Orthodox faith.

Organization Overview:  Welcome to the Toledo Polish Genealogical Society (TPGS)! If this is your first visit, I hope you are able to find what you are looking for. Each year finds us getting involved with different events in the Toledo area. This past year, we joined the Polish Cultural Center (PCC). We are looking forward to working with other Polish groups to preserve our Polish Heritage. A goal of the PCC is to create a place where all Polish groups will feel at home. In December 2012, TPGS was selected to decorate a room for the Holidays at the Manor House. We decorated the upstairs dining room in the polish Christmas tradition of Wigilia. A group of TPGS members are busily planning their submission to decorate another room in the Manor House. If you aren’t a TPGS member, we would like to invite you to join us at one of our monthly meetings. Please check the 2016 calendar to find a meeting topic that will interest you. If you are having problems working on your genealogy, you may find, as a member, we are able to help you and who knows, you may find a relative at one of our meetings. A lot of us have found some relatives this way and have been able to fill in some of the branches of our family trees. Thank you for visiting our website. Hope to see you soon,
